Ronald Belford "Bon" Scott
(1946–1980)
Bon Scott spent his early childhood in the red-stone streets of this small Angus town before emigrating with his family to Australia at the age of six. That Scottish fire never left him - and it burned bright in everything he did. Bon was the wild-hearted frontman whose unforgettable voice and rebellious spirit helped turn AC/DC into one of the greatest rock bands of all time.
Joining the band in 1974, he brought raw energy, cheeky charm, and a fierce dedication to the music that resonated with fans across the globe. With hits like High Voltage, Highway to Hell, and Let There Be Rock, Bon’s lyrics blended swagger with soul, and his on-stage presence became the stuff of legend. He wasn’t just a singer - he was a storyteller, a showman, and a rock 'n' roll outlaw who lived life loud and proud.
Though his life was tragically cut short in 1980, Bon’s legacy continues to thunder on. Bonfest, held right here in his hometown of Kirriemuir, is a global celebration of his life, music, and enduring influence.
He may be gone, but the spirit of Bon lives on in every power chord, and every raised glass in his honour.
Let there be rock - and let there always be Bon.
